ARTIST'S BIOGRAPHY

Some day I will write a book about my adventures, but until then, I think I will keep it short and sweet. Born in Los Angeles, California, I moved, with my family, to Brazil at the age of 5. I began studying art in Brazil. We later moved to India where I attended a boarding school in the mountains of Southern India and took private art classes from teachers and faculty there. I spent some time in Da Nang, Vietnam in the early 70s. I was very fortunate to be exposed to some beautiful art while there. I eventually moved back to United States and continued studying art at Fresno State University. I have been a member of The Society of Western Artists, Pastel Society of the West Coast, and the Alliance of California Artists, of which I am a signature member. In the Alliance of California Artists I have been Publicity Chair, Newsletter Chair, Vice President, and President. At this time I am their Webmaster and am on the Board of Directors. I am curator for Fresno Art Hop held at Planet Java where every month I feature a different artist. My art has been in the Smithsonian in Washington D.C. and is in private collections in Ireland, India, and across United States. My art has received awards which include Best of Show, People's Choice, Pastel Society of the West Coast, First, Second, Third, and yes, even Honorable Mention. Sometimes I haven't won anything, and once my artwork was refused "not accepted". Keeps us all humble and trying harder to achieve higher standards. Well, maybe after I stopped being indignant I tried for a higher standard... I divide up my time between my wonderful family, my friends, my home, garden, my art and my website creating and managing. And sometimes it is not in that order.
